[WVZ Alert] Always remember these two words...
Here's your 'WebVideoZone.com Alert' from the desk of In this edition: ~ Remember these two words when you create your sales videos
For the past three years, I've had my eye on a Class B RV. I'm talking about one of those "smaller" motorhomes that is fun & easy to drive. And since it gets anywhere from 20-25 miles per gallon, it's also somewhat affordable to drive. Well, at least it was. You see, my dream machine runs on diesel. And up until recently, diesel had always been much cheaper at the pump than gasoline. But the price of diesel is tied closely to the price of oil. And oil just reached a record high $120 per barrel yesterday. So, with concerns about dwindling supplies, soaring demand, and more interest rate cuts looming (rate cuts tend to weaken the dollar, pushing up the price of oil), there's a good chance my adventure mobile would end up being nothing more than an expensive, high-tech driveway clubhouse for my kids. So, what does this have to do with web video (other than the fact that I'll need to find a thousand or so new WebVideoZone members just so I can afford to fill up the tank once a month)? When you create your videos, you need to remember there's a lot of pain out there. Foreclosures, layoffs, rising prices. Polling company, Harris Interactive, and ebiz services provider, iCongo, recently conducted an interesting consumer survey. The results reveal how the rising price of gasoline is having an effect on American behavior and their attitudes towards shopping. As it turns out, one-third of those polled said the rising price of gasoline has made them more likely to shop online rather than at a retail brick-n-mortar location. Irwin Kramer is iCongo's CEO. He says, "Based on these results, it's fair to say that consumers may be looking to fire up their computer more often than their car or truck when it comes to retail shopping," adding that this is a "clear indication that gas prices are having an effect on shopping attitudes." In addition: - 61% said the ability to shop at any time is a major reason why buying online is preferred to visiting a physical retailer; - 57% indicated free shipping is a motivating factor behind online purchasing; and, - 55% said that lower prices lead them to shop online. More than ever, it's all about convenience and savings (of both time and money). We're busier than ever, in a recession, and everything seems to be getting more expensive by the day. So if you're selling something online, keep these factors in mind when you create your call-to-action message in web video sales presentations. You can imagine the script going like this: "Don't waste half your paycheck filling up the gas tank just so you can kill a day schlepping to the mall, only to battle the crowds and end-up paying retail - when you can have it in your hands in just two days, without ever having to leave home - shipped free of charge, for only ______! Just click on the video screen now, and you'll be taken to our secure order form..." OK - maybe that's a bit much. But you get the point - right? Just remember these words: Convenience and savings. =============================================== ~ Web Video Player 2.0 is here!
