[WVZ Alert] The secret to why we do the things we do...
This week's 'WebVideoZone.com Alert' from the =========================================================== Holiday greetings from the WVZ home office... With Christmas only ten days away, and since I haven't even started shopping yet, that's exactly what's on my mind today: Shopping. Ever wonder why people shop - why they buy the things they buy? I do - all the time. I'm fascinated by human behavior, and why people do the things they do (at least that's my excuse for having majored in psychology). Here's a little secret for you... When it comes down to it, we're all mostly programmed the same way. For the most part, it can be summed up this way: We do what we do in an effort to change the way we *feel*. And we want to feel good. It's the old pleasure-pain principle. We act out of our desire (frequently subconscious) to avoid pain and/or our desire to gain pleasure. What does this have to do with shopping? Everything. No one buys a car, an ipod, a software program. Whether they know it or not, people buy these things because of the anticipated good feelings they expect to receive from owning, using, being *seen* using, or giving what they purchase. Once you understand and apply this truth to your life and business, everything gets easier: relationships, parenting, marketing, customer service, product development. Everything. So it also makes sense to remember this truth when you create videos for your web site. For best results, have your videos convey all those wonderful feelings that will be had as a result of doing business with you. Or, be sure to demonstrate how you have the solution, or can offer relief to some annoying problems and pains. You want to feel good. I want to feel good. We all want to feel good. Now I better get shopping, or my wife will be demonstrating the pleasure-pain principle on me next week. =========================================================== What's new in the Zone... =========================================================== The Big3 is finally here!
