How to automatically redirect viewers to another page
There may be times when you would like to redirect your viewers to another web page once the video has stopped playing. With the Web Video Player™, it's easy do. Here are the instructions, along with a working example... When you use The Web Video Player, you have six options for what happens once the video is done playing. You can choose to: - Have nothing happen - the player simply freezes on the last frame in your video.
- Loop the video - selecting this option causes your video to play over, and over again - indefinitely.
- Display a clickable Exit Image - an image you specify is shown, and when clicked, the viewer is sent to the web page you specify.
- Display the "Play Again" button - when clicked, the video plays again.
- Have the player reset - when the video is finished playing, the player returns to its initial state (e.g., displays the "click to play" button).
- Automatically redirect viewers - when the video is finished, the viewer is sent to any page you specify.
The last option is accomplished using the Auto Redirect feature. To activate it, all you need to do is login into your player control panel, and specify an End of Movie
Auto-Redirect URL. This is the page to which you would like to automatically send your visitors once the video is done:

IMPORTANT: There is also an option to set the URL "target." This refers to where in the browser the link will open (e.g., "blank" = new window, "self" = current window). Be careful if/how you use this option, as the ever-evolving pop-up blockers may prevent the new window from opening. If you do choose to set the target to "blank" (new window), you should also have a backup plan. In the event the new window gets blocked, you can at least have a clickable Exit Image display. Viewers who click on this image will then be taken to the same URL that you would have liked them to have been auto-redirected to had the new window not been blocked. Here are the player settings: - End of Movie Action - Select "Pause with Image," and specify the number of seconds to pause and display Exit Image.
- Exit Image - Specify a URL path for your Exit Image.
- Exit Click URL - Use the same URL here that you used as your Auto Redirect URL.
- Exit Image URL Click Target - You may want to select "self" (same window) just to play it safe.

When to use the Auto Redirect FeatureImagine you've created a great video demonstrating a product, and by the time the video is over, your viewers are excited and ready to buy. You can now use the Auto Redirect to send your visitors directly to: - Your shopping cart, with the product pre-selected and ready for checkout.
- An affiliate page (via your affiliate link), allowing you to earn a commission.
- A page offering more detailed information, and perhaps a special offer.
- An email opt-in form so they can subscribe to your mailing list.
Note: I recommend you use this feature selectively. Some people may not appreciate being automatically redirected to another web page. When it comes to utilizing the Web Video Player's Auto Redirect feature, please remember to use your best judgement and not abuse it. The Auto Redirect in ActionBelow is a working example of a video that automatically redirects to another web page after the video has finished playing. You will need to hit your browser's "back" button to return to this page after you view the demo... Oh, how I love those VW commercials...
