Viral Videos
The term viral video refers to video content which has gained widespread popularity as a result of having been shared and recommended online. Many viral videos become famous unexpectedly and without planning. This is due to an organic "buzz factor" where people typically spread awareness of the video (and the video itself) via email, forums, blogs and other web sites. Viral videos typically contain an element of humor, although that may not have been the intended purpose for creating the video (see: The Star Wars Kid). While some viral videos are professionally produced by advertising agencies and other media companies (see: Lazy Sunday), most are created by amateurs with little or no video production and marketing experience.
