Sorenson (Codec, Squeeze, Flash Encoder)
The term "Sorenson" ususally refers to a codec, also known as the Sorenson Video Codec, Sorenson Video Quantizer, or simply SVQ. This digital video codec was originally developed by the company Sorenson Media for use in Apple's QuickTime. Its popularity grew when a special version of its codec, Sorenson Spark, was used in Macromedia Flash 7. In regards to internet video development, "Sorenson" also refers to their program, Sorenson Squeeze. This is a popular solution for encoding video into the Flash format. The latest version of Squeeze (4.3) includes support for the older Sorenson Spark Pro codec (Flash 7), and also supports the newer On2 VP6 Flash encoder (Flash 8).
