QuickTime (.MOV)
QuickTime is a multimedia technology developed by Apple Computer. It refers to:
- The QuickTime file format itself (.MOV file extension), and is available for anyone to use royalty-free.
- The QuickTime multimedia player is available for at Apple's web site. It comes pre-installed on Apple computers, but often has to be downloaded and installed by Windows/PC users.
Apple also offers QuickTime Pro for $29.99. The Pro version offers additional features, allowing users to:
- Create video using their high-quality H.264 codec
- Record audio for producing podcasts
- Create movies for iPod
- Utilize full-screen controls
- Convert media to more than a dozen formats
