QuickTime is a multimedia technology developed by Apple Computer.

It refers to:

1. The QuickTime file format itself (.MOV file extension), and is available for anyone to use royalty-free.
2. The QuickTime multimedia player is available for at Apple's web site. It comes pre-installed on Apple computers, but often has to be downloaded and installed by Windows/PC users.

Apple also offers QuickTime Pro for $29.99. The Pro version offers additional features, allowing users to:

1. Create video using their high-quality H.264 codec
2. Record audio for producing podcasts
3. Create movies for iPod
4. Utilize full-screen controls
5. Convert media to more than a dozen formats
