Broadband
This term is commonly used to mean several things:
- A signal or circuit that can handle a wide range of frequencies. The wider the bandwith, the more pieces of data can be carried simultaneously.
- Content that needs to be sent over a high bit rate connection.
- A fast computer network connection that supports a high bit rate, or content that takes advantage of a high bit rate connection.
The International Telecommunication Union Standardization Sector has defined broadband as a transmission capacity that is faster than 1.5 to 2 Mbps (megabits per second).
