Digital Video
First launched in 1996, DV is a specific type of digital video, and refers to the storage or distribution of video. Digital video is usually converted from an analog video source to a binary signal. Typically it is recorded on tape and then put onto an optical disk like a DVD. Some camcorders can record directly to DVDs or can encode digital video on conventional analogue tapes.
